The Word Connected

Wednesday, Apr 23, 2014 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Adult Class, Main Campus

Many people rarely go anywhere without a cell phone or laptop. We have become accessible 24 hours a day, "connected" to the web – not always to the Word. Bible study and prayer is essential in a walk of faith to sustain us in uncertain times. The Word Connected study will help you see how relevant the scriptures are to daily life and will help you find "quiet time" to connect with God.
Leaders: Richard & Marsha Murrell

Setting Limits with Adult Children

Saturday, May 03, 2014 9:00 am - 12:30 pm
Life Care Center, Main Campus

Setting Limits with Adult Children – Six Steps to Hope and Freedom
Dr. Robert Dodd, PsyD and Cindi Dodd, MA LPC

Parents often, out of a heart of concern and desperation, rescue their immature adult children from suffering the consequences of their continuous poor choices. Sadly, in most cases, this doesn't bring positive results and parents may often feel abused, hopeless, and drained emotionally and financially. They end up living in the middle of crisis or in dread of the next crisis. This seminar will help parents and grandparents find freedom from the manipulation and dysfunctional behavior of adult children who continually make life painful for them for one reason or another. The Dodds will share their knowledge and firsthand experience on how to:
*Stop enabling, stop blaming yourself, and stop the flow of money
*Assemble a support group
*Nip excuses in the bud
*Implement boundaries
*Trust your instincts
*Yield your child and everything involving them to God
By reaping the consequences of their bad choices, there is a better chance your adult children will turn to God and seek help for their unhealthy behavior patterns.

Dodds' Bio: Dr. Robert Dodd serves as Clinical Director and he and Cindi both serve as Christian counselors for Rodgers Christian Counseling.  Dr. Dodd's life experience, both as a pastor and psychologist, enables him to work effectively with a variety of  needs including adolescent, marriage, family and all addictive behaviors. His heart's desire is to help individuals gain wholeness of life.  Cindi enjoys working with children, teenagers, singles, married couples and entire families. She also enjoys leading groups. Most of all, she has a passion for people to overcome adversity and truly receive the healing the Lord has for them. In addition, Dr. Dodd and Cindi lead various workshops and seminars on the weekends.

(Coffee, juice and pastries will be served prior to seminar.)

$25/person or $40/couple
If you are registering on Friday, May 2, please call the LifeCareCenter at 704-365-6112.

Thursday, Oct 16, 2014
Women

October 16 – 18, 2014
Special guest speaker: Carolyn Weber
Discover refreshing solitude and beauty walking wooded trails, enjoy quiet time by a stream or relax in miles of breathtaking mountainous views. Join with Women of Central to experience peace and tranquility as we focus upon God and His Word. From her book "Holy Is the Day", Carolyn will reflect on God's work in the everyday places of life, from the kitchen to the crucible, the classroom to the emergency room. Life pulls us in many different directions even to the point of pulling our souls apart. We know rest and reflection are necessary even Jesus took time away from the crowds, away from the demands of everyday life, to pray, to spend time with friends.

Registration opens at our January 21, 2014 Women's Dinner.
We are unable to accept registration without a completed registration form and a deposit of $100. Deposit is nonrefundable. Space is limited; therefore only registration received with deposit monies for everyone in the room will be reserved. Rooms will be assigned on a first-come-first-served basis.
