GOLFERS - consider this a BONUS event for the year, with our last scheduled event having already taken place. If you are wondering why...well...here are a few good reasons:
Olde Sycamore has graciously made us an offer we can not refuse.
The weather is GREAT!
We don't want to be in the office with weather like this...and honestly...neither do our bosses!
The proceeds (because of OLDE SYCAMORE) will go towards an OUTREACH PROJECT - so you're NOT just playing golf - you're making a difference - REALLY!
We've still got some great prizes we need to give away. Among others, they are:
2 sets of 2 week long tickets to the Wells Fargo golf championship at Quail Hollow in 2012.
A set of Wilson Irons valued at $4-500
An autographed replica Nascar helmet, signed by various Sprint Cup drivers.
Prizes for FIVE teams - top 3 teams, and 2 randomly chosen teams. (so you don't even have to win...to win!)
CHANGE IN FORMAT
We will be playing a handicapped, 4 man team, 2 low score SHAMBLE. (see below if you're not sure what this is...or think it's a typo.) We'll tee off with a shot gun start at 10:00am, so you'll have plenty of time to get warmed up, grab a bite to eat... and maybe even buy or sell a few stocks before your first tee. There will be prizes for the FIVE teams - so you don't even have to feel the pressure of having to win. How about that! As always, there will be great prizes that you can win, either on the course, or through drawings at the conclusion of play. Assemble your own team, or sign up as an individual and we will place you on a team.
Format for this outing - a modified Shamble (this may appear complicated ...but trust me...it's just in appearance - it's actually quite easy.)
Each player tees off. The team will choose the best drive from the tee box.
From this location each member of the team will play their own ball in (stroke play) - to completion of the hole.
The 2 best net scores for each hole will be recorded.
How is a net score determined?
Each player, depending on their average score above par for 18 holes (will be referred to as handicap from here on) will receive a certain amount of strokes on each hole. The max handicap will be 28.
For example:
A player with a handicap of 28 will receive ONE stroke on the 8 easiest holes on the course, and TWO strokes on the 10 hardest holes.
A player with a handicap of 18 will receive ONE stroke on every hole.
A player with a 9 handicap will receive ONE stroke on the 9 hardest holes and NONE on the 9 easiest holes.
A player with a 0 handicap will receive NO strokes on any holes.
Strokes will be determined by a DOT on your scorecard next to your name, to make this easy for scoring purposes.
Once the hole is completed - each player will take their actual score for the hole and subtract the amount of strokes they receive, to give him, or her the net score for that hole.
The 2 LOWEST net scores will be recorded for that team - per hole.
These 2 totals will be added up to give a final count for each team.
The lowest scores will win. but...DON'T FORGET - there will be 2 lucky (can we say that?) teams that will also win - based purely on how good their prayer life is, or just randomly. :)
We believe this will be a really fun format, where golfers will experience the ups and downs of playing their own ball, but still enjoy the comraderie of their team mates.
We really hope you will join us at Olde Sycamore on October 27.
Limited to 136 golfers.
