Baby Dedication
Baby dedication is an act of faith on the part of parents who have a personal relationship with Christ to publicly declare their intention to raise their child according to the Scriptures. During the dedication service, our pastor prays for the child and the parents; however, it is much more significant than a one-time ceremony. Dedication signifies a life-long commitment by the parents that they will yield their lives to the Lord and seek His guidance in raising their child to know and serve Him.
If you are a born-again believer who intends to raise your child according to scripture, and are not involved in sexual activity outside of marriage, we would be glad to stand with you before the Lord as you dedicate your child.
We realize that some are single parents or a parent whose spouse does not know the Lord. We know that is a very difficult situation to be in, and we as a church want to encourage you in the Lord as you raise your child. We believe it is our responsibility before God to talk with you and understand your situation before we agree to have you take part in the dedication
service. If you are a single parent, or if you are uncomfortable with any of the above statements, or have questions about them, please contact the church to talk with Pastor Charryse Johnson prior to participating in a dedication service.
There is a mandatory parent meeting for those scheduled to participate in a dedication service. This meeting is for first-time parents and those who have never before dedicated a child at Central Church.This meeting is usually held the Wednesday evening prior to the Sunday dedication date. We will address the dedication details, the Biblical foundation for dedication, and answer any questions you have.
PLEASE be aware that services fill up very quickly due to the limited space available to participate in each service. It is our desire to accomodate families as much as possible, however, we will choose the final date and service time you will dedicate. Note: Prior to each service, a photographer will take a family portrait of you and your baby with the pastor. We provide a picture along with the dedication certificate as a keepsake. We do not videotape or take photos of the actual dedication service. However, you are welcome to have a friend or family member take video or pictures for you during the service.
To allow families quick and easy access to the stage, reserved seating will only be designated for immediate family members. Extended family members may want to arrive early to access additional seating within the church sanctuary.
