Sports & The Gospel Class

We first ran the "Sports & The Gospel" class January- March of 2011. A small group of us explored the two worlds of sport and biblical truth together and here is what one attendee had to say towards the end of our class.

"I played my first flag football tournament of the year this weekend and I can't tell you how much of an impact the class had on me. It was truly the first time I've played to glorify God and I felt an incredible freedom that I have never experienced on the playing field. God opened my eyes and heart to a new attitude towards playing sports." - Chris V

In our class we will take a look at various different elements of sport and competition and see what insights the bible can give us on them.  Some of the elements that will be explored include:

• What the "fall of man" really is and how it has affected our sporting world.
• Man's pursuit of glory and how it affects our competitive nature.
• Can I be free and compete in a way that really glorifies God - and if so...what does this look like?
• Does God care who wins - really?
• What would sport in a redeemed world look like?
• How do my goals and ambitions line up to God's purpose?

Bring your bible, a note pad, a heart and mind ready to explore these two beautiful worlds, and see what God might do.  Perhaps you'll be surprized just how close to the heart of God this world of sport and competition really is - and how truth could set you free.
