PARENTS OF RISING 6TH GRADERS
5th Grade Transition
6th grade is right around the corner and your child will soon be promoted to the Youth department. In order to make this transition as smooth as possible we would like to inform you about what to expect this year. We have made some changes which we believe are needed, and hopefully will best suit kids for years to come. We have put a plan in place to help your child understand what the Youth department is like and what it has to offer them as a new student:
o On Sunday, June 8th a 5th grader will become what is now termed a 6R. They are in between 5th and 6th for this transition.
- On Sunday mornings, a 6R will have small group time in his/her class in the Kids Central building (Room #1).
- On Wednesdays, a 6R will be taught by Tony and Johnna Prudhomme downstairs in the Passage, Room 107.
o We believe this will be an important time of helping your student bridge from life at Kids Central to life at the Passage. Junior High small group ministry is also being launched to help students continue to grow in their relationship with Christ and connect to their peers.
o With this transition, we believe it will work out best for both departments if 6Rs attend Kids Central Summer Camp before moving up into the Youth department. KCSC is Friday, July 18- Monday, July 21.

We realize this is a major shift in our ministries and wanted to inform you regarding why we are making these changes. We see this as a move in the right direction. We understand the first year we do this might cause some scheduling changes for you. However, we looked at it from all angles, talked about it, prayed about it, and it seems like a good move. We see it as having the best interest of your student in mind; now and in the future.
