Friends Club (6-8th gr. girls)

If you have ever known a girl in middle school you know what a crazy time of identity shifting this can be. Many girls confide less in parents and more in peers. They crave someone to share their thoughts with. These girls aren't children, but they aren't young adults either. They are making choices and encountering challenges they've never faced before. Friends Clubs help meet the needs that young girls face head on.
Friends Club is a mentoring program designed by the National Girls Ministries of the Assemblies of God. It offers a Bible- and discussion-based curriculum for girls in 6th-8th grade. It is based on the Titus 2 principle of godly women mentoring girls. It's designed to meet the spiritual and social needs of girls as well as give them the biblical guidance and support they need to make good choices.
The program is driven by a 5-fold Purpose.
- To win girls to Jesus Christ through love and acceptance.
- To teach them to obey everything Jesus commanded us--developing girls spiritually and mentally.
- To provide encouragement, support and accountability through lasting Christian relationships.
- To provide an environment for girls to develop their gifts and abilities.
- To acquaint them with the Great Commission of Jesus Christ our Lord
What are the topics covered in the curriculum?
Topics include accountability, attitude, choices, commitment to Christ, family life, friendship, the Holy Spirit, life-controlling problems, peer pressure, purity, sanctity of life, and self-esteem. In addition to the curriculum material, each group will have outreach opportunities and group projects that help them develop a deeper understanding of the topics covered.
